Abstract: The paper deals with community solidarity, and looks at how a sense of community has developed and the manner in which it is demonstrated in the villages that we have studied. This also helps in later arguing how the feeling of oneness works in the context of disasters, and also how people adjust and cope with disasters in Orissa, or even in the ways in which they prepare to face fresh disasters, which are recurring phenomena in this part of the country.
