Abstract: The efficient management of electronic waste (E-Waste) is rapidly emerging as a major challenge. If neglected, it will have a devastating impact on the environment besides serious health issues. This paper provides insights into the status of E-Waste management in Bangalore. It is based on intensive fieldwork supported by focus-group discussions, participatory observations and interviews. The paper also documents the management processes of formal/informal institutions, the poor practices that have affected health and urban ecology and the policies for improved E-Waste management.
