Abstract: Given the big challenges in providing healthcare in India because of rising costs and poor infrastructure, traditional medicine is seen as a positive alternative for improving the health status of the masses. In this context, the current chapter focuses on understanding the role of SOUKYA Foundation DMRC (Dr. Mathai’s Rural Health Care Centre) under the AYUSH programme aimed at reviving traditional healthcare systems in peri urban areas.
