Abstract:
This paper is an empirical exercise that describes and analyzes the dynamics of the land in the agricultural colony of Pigüé, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Rural maps (1884, 1913 and 1929) were used as the main source for this purpose. The transformation of all farms in the lands that formed the colony when it was founded was tracked through each map. The gender of the owner, the stay in the family and the variation in the surface were considered as major variables.
