Abstract:
The present paper is a study of determinants of academic performance of the students of Mathematics I of the Faculty of Economic, Legal and Social Sciences of the National University of Salta. In particular, the performance of students who re-attend the course is analyzed, based on the number of times they have attended the subject and the effect of the layout of a virtual classroom. Data corresponding to the 2013-2017 period was used, focusing on academic performance in 2017, and a multinomial logit and a quantile regression were estimated. On the one hand, it was found that the number of times attended has a positive impact on the performance of the repeaters, but that as they increase, performance may decrease. On the other hand, the virtual classroom also has a positive influence, especially for the students with the highest academic performance.
