Oil production in pre-revolutionary Russia and the struggle over petroleum markets

Abstract: The talk examines the conditions of oil production in pre-revolutionary Russia, the structure of oil-producing and refining firms is identified, the conditions of petroleum products sales in the late XIXth-early XXth centuries are characterized. The talk is based on the material of office work records of petroleum companies and governmental institutions of the mining department of the Russian Empire kept at the state archives in Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
