Dynamic capabilities in Russian companies - introduction to the problem

Abstract:
This working paper reviews the peculiarities of dynamic capabilities in Russian companies. Do they exist in Russian firms? The analysis of interview with top-managers of 9 firms from different industries is aimed the attempt to reveal the presence of the main elements of the dynamic capabilities such as an environment and competitive position of the companies, their business-models, entrepreneurial and innovative contexts of their activities, organizational learning and knowledge management processes. As a result the core hypothesis on the presence of dynamic capabilities in Russian firms was partially confirmed, because there are the key elements of dynamic capabilities: innovative activities, partial proactive position, organizational learning and the ability to change. This fact permits to conclude that the dynamic capability phenomenon as a phenomenon of integrity needs more profound research, and can be researched further.
