Narrow Replication of Ashcraft (2005): Are Banks Really Special?

Björn Zakula ()

No 1/2012, Replication Working Papers from Institut für Statistik und Ökonometrie, Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Fakultät, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Replication project

Abstract: This is a partly successful narrow replication of Ashcraft [2005] "Are Banks Really Special? New evidence from the FDIC-induced failure of healthy banks" published in the American Economic Review. Despite differences in the findings, the conclusion of the original paper is not called into question.
