The Research Output of Australian Econometrics and Economics Department: 1988-93

J.B. Towe and Donald Wright

No 208, Working Papers from University of Sydney, School of Economics

Abstract: This paper attempts to measure an important component of the research output of econometrics and economics departments, namely, the number of pages published, during the period 1988-93, in journals listed by the Journal of Economic Literature. Based on standardized page counts it is found that econometrics and economics department rankings are similar over a broad range of journal groupings. It is also found that the median number of pages published by senior lecturers, associate professors is quite small indicating research output is highly concentrated.
