Educación y trabajo informal: qué nos dicen las cifras - Uruguay 2001-2011

Abstract: Labour market condition have been very favourable in Uruguay in the last decade;however, the situation varies according to workers qualifications. This is so in terms of employment growth, unemployment rates, wage rates, and also in the presence of informality. This paper focuses on several aspects relating informality and qualifications in Uruguay, in the period 2001-2011. It is highlighted that informal unskilled workers are in the rise, while the wage gap between formal and informal sector for the unskilled is also in the rise during the period. By sector and job type, informality varies significantly, with a higher prevalence of informality in sectors and occupations with low skills requirements.
