Abstract:
Economics of education is a relatively recent discipline which in Italy has a limited role in the matter of teaching both at academic and high school levels. Such a situation clearly clashes with the outstanding role of knowledge and ability peculiar to professional work in modern economic systems which are to be developed, as OCSE and European Commission have stated. Thus, the paper is aimed to present shortly such a discipline according to literature on that and which is thought to be notable. It will be also useful for all – such as teachers – of whom have been working for a short time at school; it is a quick and understandable text and it shows a thorough outline of problems which economics of education is facing and the ways it solves them.
