Abstract: The fundamental aim of this essay consists in a general discussion of the center-periphery model in its simplest formulation, highlighting its central elements. This model, considered an essential part in the so-called New Economic Geography, builds upon the spatialized version of Dixit-Stiglitz model (1977) of imperfect competition, which is preliminarily presented here. The final part of this work presents some critical appointments of the model according to the relevant literature outlined. Concluding, we offer final considerations about the subject.
