Abstract:
The objective of this paper is to analyze the insertion of migrant and non-migrant residents in rural areas in the labor market in the Midwest region. Census data is used 2010 to present descriptive statistics and estimate an econometric model using the Heckman procedure. The results show that migrants are more likely to employment and higher income, being positively selected. We believe that, in general, the migrant resident in rural areas act as a promoter of regional growth and especially the agro-industrial development.
