A model of individual strategy for school-to-work transition

Guy Tchibozo

Working Papers of BETA from Bureau d'Economie Théorique et Appliquée, UDS, Strasbourg

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to propose a coherent articulation of the different determinants of school-to-wok transition identified by economic theories. The method consists in arranging these determinants in the framework of a dynamic optimization micro-economic model. The proposed model implies that school-to-work transition constitutes a strategic process. Two main results are obtained. First, a reference strategy of school-to-work transition emerges. Secondly, the reference principles thus obtained can explain some causes of failure as well as the rationality of non-linear courses in observable school-to-work transition processes.
