Abstract:
From a review of various theoretical approaches with an endogenous and territorial explanation of the development process is found evidence about economic development of a region depending on the interaction of four key factors: innovation, organization of production, urban agglomeration economies and institutions. This paper presents the theoretical foundations that are behind these factors (Endogenus Territorial Economic Development),with an application to Uruguayan case. The aim is to show the relevance of the proposed theoretical approach in order to understand the different regional development on the country. Finally, on the basis of the results, we discuss about some economic policy implications.
