Abstract: This paper examines the relationship between the non-labour income and the women's childbearing behaviour. A novel basis is used, built from nominal records of women between 15 and 49 years old, who applied to the program Asignaciones Familiares –Plan de Equidad between 2008 and 2009, as well as information from the National Registry of Birth Certificate, with all of the births taken place in Uruguay between 2003 and 2016. From a discontinuous regression design, there are no statistically significant results that account for the effect of the transfers on the childbearing behaviour. Neither are effects of the program when younger women are considered separately. Even though there are some significant effects depending on the age range of women, whether they do have a child or not during the years before applying to the program and the pregnancy care, are not robustness to the different specifications estimated.
