Abstract: The 2010 Report examines the growing economic relationships between Africa and other developing countries within the broader framework of South-South cooperation. It analyses trends in trade, foreign direct investment, official financial flows and development partnerships involving emerging economies and assesses their implications for Africa's long-term development. Particular attention is given to the opportunities and challenges arising from deeper economic engagement with developing-country partners. The Report evaluates the institutional arrangements supporting these relationships and considers their contribution to technological upgrading, capital accumulation and structural transformation. It also examines policy options for ensuring that South-South cooperation contributes to economic diversification and productive capacity development rather than reinforcing existing patterns of commodity dependence. The analysis highlights the importance of aligning international partnerships with national development objectives and strengthening Africa's capacity to benefit from an evolving global economic landscape.
