Abstract: The 2025 Report examines developments in world maritime transport in an environment characterized by economic uncertainty, geopolitical risks, evolving trade patterns and continuing structural changes in global shipping. It analyses trends in seaborne trade, freight markets, fleet development, ports, logistics services and maritime connectivity, and evaluates their implications for international trade and economic development. Particular attention is given to factors affecting the resilience and adaptability of maritime transport systems, including shifts in supply chains, technological change, environmental requirements and changing market conditions. The Report assesses the capacity of shipping and logistics networks to respond to emerging challenges while maintaining efficiency, reliability and connectivity. The analysis highlights policy issues relevant to governments, transport providers and port authorities seeking to strengthen maritime transport performance and support sustainable global trade in a period of heightened uncertainty.
