Abstract: The 2002 Report examines global economic developments and the integration of developing countries into the international trading system. It analyses trends in world trade, investment and economic growth and assesses how international trade can contribute to development objectives. Particular attention is given to the opportunities and constraints faced by developing economies in expanding exports, diversifying production and strengthening participation in global markets. The Report evaluates the relationship between trade performance, development strategies, and international economic conditions, and considers policy measures to enhance the developmental benefits of trade. The analysis highlights the importance of building productive capacities, improving market access and strengthening the institutional foundations needed for sustained growth and successful integration into the world economy.
