Abstract: The 2012 Report examines the role of South-South collaboration in strengthening technological capabilities and innovation performance in developing countries. It analyses how cooperation among countries of the Global South can contribute to technological learning, industrial development and broader development objectives. Particular attention is given to the mechanisms through which knowledge, technology, skills and productive capabilities can be shared across developing economies. The Report evaluates the contribution of South-South cooperation to addressing challenges related to energy, food security, industrialization and sustainable development. It also considers the institutional and policy frameworks needed to strengthen technology partnerships and innovation networks. The analysis highlights the growing importance of developing-country cooperation as a complement to other forms of international collaboration and as a means of expanding access to technological opportunities.
