No 372804, Competition & Regulation Times from New Zealand Institute for the Study of Competition and Regulation

Abstract: On 22 September 2009, the Australia-New Zealand Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee (ANZSFRC) met in Melbourne to consider the future of the debt and deposit guarantee programmes introduced by the Australian and New Zealand governments in response to disruption in financial markets. Its subsequent Statement 6 examined the principles that should underpin these types of schemes, considered how the implemented schemes have met those principles, and outlined what ANZSFRC believes to be desirable futures for such schemes. This article is an abridged version of the Statement.
