No 1, Global Poverty Monitoring Technical Note Series from The World Bank

Abstract: The April 2018 update to PovcalNet involves several changes to the data underlying the global poverty estimates. Some welfare aggregates have been changed for improved harmonization, some surveys have been dropped due to data quality concerns, and some of the CPI and national accounts input data have been revised. This document details the content of and reasoning behind the changes made. In addition to the changes listed here, 97 new country-years have been added. This brings the total number of surveys to 1577.
