Productivity Commission

Others from University Library of Munich, Germany

Abstract: On 25 August 1998 the Treasurer referred Australia’s gambling industries for inquiry and the provision of an information report within 12 months of receiving the reference. The Commission was requested to provide an information report on the economic and social impacts of Australia’s gambling industries to enhance public understanding of the issues and assist government decision making. While there were no policy recommendations in the report requiring a formal response by the Commonwealth Government, the report provided a range of policy relevant findings to assist all governments in Australia.
