Abstract:
The international investment regime is out of phase with domestic policy efforts to combat climate change. Even the newest treaties prioritize investment facilitation ahead of climate mitigation. This Perspective proposes new treaty commitments that would facilitate a transition to renewable energy and help countries align their economic and climate goals.
