Abstract: This concept describes the background of discussions concerning the voational and academic education in Germany and Europe. In order to achieve political intended readability of degrees in the European Union the concept of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is explained. With the objective to enhance the further discussion about the degrees and transferability of vocational continuing education the concept of a new title group named diploma professional in accordance to the academic diploma supplement and also implementing the idea of EQF is laid out. This may support the integration of the German high-quality vocational education system into a modern and motivating pan-European education system open for lifelong learning and dealing with global competition in knowledge economies.
