No 18, ild Schriftenreihe from FOM Hochschule für Oekonomie & Management, Institut für Logistik- & Dienstleistungsmanagement (ild)

Abstract: This research paper observes the sector of humanitarian logistics as this field becomes very important in business science and business practice in the future. For decades poverty, war and natural disasters have increased. The deteriorating humanitarian situation leads to a growth of annual total volume of the humanitarian sector to over 100 billion U.S. dollars, of which 50% to 80% refer to logistic activities. Therefore, the authors give a detailed overview about the different disaster relief operations and logistics in the context of humanitarian operations.
