Abstract: This paper presents the proposed trend development of new technologies and organisational concepts in the logistics services sector. A structure for classifying such trends is proposed in order to provide overall understanding of basic developments in logistics. From this industry specific outlook education requirements as well as a research structure for the described and initiated research project LOGFOR are derived. This public funded research project will establish guidelines and support internal education of logistics employees regarding future technologies and concepts in order to enhance overall efficiency in logistics.
