Abstract:
[Introduction] Filgueiras et al. (2023) report the Brazilian Portuguese translation and validation of the CRAVE and ARGE scales for assessing motivational states for physical activity and sedentarism. The article describes data from a Brazilian sample (n = 1,168) and states that the sample size was determined in accordance with normative guidelines of the Brazilian Federal Council of Psychology. Following examination of the publicly available dataset associated with the article (CRAVE_BRAZIL.xlsx, hosted on OSF), we identified features that merit clarification. In particular, the dataset contains a near-exact duplication of half of the sample, as well as potential issues in the computation and coding of certain derived variables.
