Response to Commentary: The CRAVE and ARGE scales for motivation states for physical activity and sedentarism: Brazilian Portuguese translation and single-item versions

Abstract: We accept that the Brazilian dataset underlying Study 1 contained substantial handling errors, that the originally reported sample size of 1,168 was incorrect, and that the claim of Brazilian normative data can no longer be supported. On July 1, 2026, Frontiers determined that the article will be retracted. We approve the retraction. We are writing to (a) request a targeted revision to the draft retraction notice so that it accurately reflects the scope of the affected findings, (b) provide a substantive response to the I4R replication report, and (c) describe the data governance measures our team is putting in place to prevent recurrence.
