Abstract: This article deals with the concept of risk. The first aim of the analysis of the existing risk definitions is to structure the existing definitions in order to offer a basis to build up a risk definition depending on its purpose. The second aim is to make empirical investigations about the existing risk definitions. To structure different definitions, the method of the semantic box is used. The empiric analysis is conducted by a quantitative-descriptive analysis of publications.
