Abstract:
This paper addresses the dynamic effects of a migration inflow on the host country. In particular, we focus on the role of skill composition and investment behaviour of migrants and show how these affect labour supply and investment behaviour of natives and, hence, the adjustment path of the economy to various shocks in a real business cycle model. We quantify these effects for the recent refugee inflow into the German economy in 2014 and 2015.
