MYRANK: Stata module to generate axis variable base on ranks
Nicholas Cox
Statistical Software Components from Boston College Department of Economics
Abstract:
myrank generates a variable for a graph axis that is base on (unique or distinct) ranks of values of a numeric variable, with various possible twists. First, if a grouping variable is specified, ranks are determine separately within groups of that variable but remain distinct overall. Second, given the first twist, gaps of integer length may be adde between groups. Third, ranking by default is ascending, lowest to highest, but optionally may be descending, highest to lowest. The major an intende use of such a variable is for side-by-side quantile plots, as illustrate in Cox 2024. Stata Journal 24:766-776.
