Abstract:
We introduce markets for insurance and saving and borrowing at the same time, allowing the consumer to allocate their income across both time and states. We can compare with Parts III, IV and V to show how economic wellbeing can be further improved by more complete financial markets, and can explore the interplay between saving/borrowing and insuring for various preferences and economic circumstances. The model is described in Guo and Gilbert (2014) "Demystifying Financial Markets for Saving and Insurance With Numerical Models" Journal of Economic Education.
