Abstract:
The review of the key indicators of the global scientific and technological ecosystem development; updated in 2018; is carried out to determine the important trends and focuses for Russia. Particular attention is drawn to the fact that the share of the business sector in industrialized countries is becoming a major source of R & D funding. In the Russian Federation; total R & D investments by all Russian industrial companies in 2016 amounted to €8.39 billion in PPP terms; which is less than the 2016 budget of each individual company included in the top 10 rankings of the European Commission “EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard†. The domestic expenditure on research and development in the Russian Federation in 2015 were lower than the combined corporate budgets of three companies in the world: Volkswagen; Alphabet and Microsoft.
