Romania: Large Semi-subsistence Farm Sector, Result of Wrong Strategic Approach?

Abstract:
The paper discusses the influence of main strategical approaches to the agricultural structures, trying to identify between the causes of the semi-subsistence farming in Romania, the bias is to large farms support of the agricultural policies in the transition period. The 2002 Agricultural Census data, followed by 2005 Structural Survey data, offer the opportunity for an objective analysis that could change the direction of the Strategy plan developed for rural development programming period 2007-2013, as in scenarios presented in last part of this paper.
