Abstract:
There exists no statistical survey on the distribution of land ownership in Germany. For agricultural land, this report provides an analysis of ownership structures in a sample of 59 municipalities all over Germany. It is based on owner data from the Official Land Registry Information System (AL-KIS). We process owner data using algorithms with respect to personal identity, and analyse them in anonymised form. We calculate the area size of individual owners as well as the aggregated area size of people (households) or businesses belonging together in economic terms. Agricultural households or enterprises are also identified, using EU direct area payments. Statistical analyses are carried out with respect to owner categories (e.g., German state, Federal state, municipality, church, natural person, business), age and sex of natural persons, and place of residence or business domicile. Furthermore, the Gini coefficient of ownership distribution and the concentration rates of the biggest five owners are calculated. All calculated features show a high variance within the sample of municipalities.
