A Global Trade In Services Data Set by Sector and by Mode of Supply (TISMOS)

Abstract: This paper describes the approach for creating an analytical data set on trade in services by mode of supply (TiSMoS) at global level for the period of 2005 to 2017. The sector data follow the Extended Balance of Payments Classification (EBOPS 2010) in the Manual on Statistics on International Trade in Services 2010 edition (MSITS 2010). The countries' balance of payments data are complemented by estimates on the size of commercial presence (mode 3) for which a FATS database is constructed. As the data set is built in modular form with a transparent methodology, it is hoped that the data set will develop into an international benchmark incorporating gradually any new available information.
