STRUCTURAL ESTIMATES OF DOMESTIC DEMAND FOR AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS IN AUSTRALIA: A REVIEW

Robert A. Richardson

Review of Marketing and Agricultural Economics, 1976, vol. 44, issue 03, 30

Abstract: Applied economists have devoted significant resources to the econometric estimation of demand and price parameters of markets for agricultural products. This paper provides a review of research in this area for the Australian domestic market. Identified publications are classified on the basis of various levels of aggregation over products and markets and are evaluated in terms of the use of economic theory, econometric methods and data. In the final section of the paper there is a discussion of some questions and problems arising from the existing literature, and the implications for future research in this area.
