THE DISASTER ASSISTANCE ACT OF 1988: A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROVISIONS

Abstract: On August 11, President Reagan signed The Disaster Assistance Act of 1988 (P.L. 100-387). The law provides aid to livestock, dairy, and crop producers who suffered losses due to natural disaster. This report describes the law, explaining the assistance available to different kinds of producers.
