Abstract: The 21st Century started during the early decades of the Competency Era in progressive education where the emphasis was stretched to include all the constituents of competence and not merely the contents. Actually, Romania is across some irreversible and highly interest processes for the accounting profession, and the reform of the Romanian Accounting Regulation was gradually implemented, and upgraded concerning with the IVth Directive of the European Community and with The International Accounting Standards. Our intention is to stimulate and create awareness among stakeholder groups in Romania on the competence-based approach to professional accounting education. In this paper, we presents a competency-based approach for accounting education, very important for the The Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania (CECCAR)'s activity.
