Abstract: This study examines the role of big data capabilities in facilitating the service-oriented transformation of Chinese manufacturing enterprises. Drawing on resource-based theory, dynamic capability theory, and organizational change theory, a conceptual model is developed to explore the relationship between big data capabilities, organizational practice updates, and transformation performance. Using a quantitative approach, the study analyzes survey data from 246 Chinese manufacturing enterprises. The findings reveal that big data capabilities, encompassing resource acquisition, analysis and integration, and application, significantly enhance transformation performance. Moreover, organizational practice updates mediate this relationship, emphasizing the importance of adaptive internal practices in leveraging big data for service innovation. Additionally, environmental dynamism is found to moderate the impact of big data capabilities on transformation outcomes, highlighting the contextual nature of digital servitization. These insights provide valuable strategies for manufacturing enterprises to overcome the "service paradox," optimize resource utilization, and sustain competitive advantages in a digitally driven market. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on digital transformation, offering both theoretical and practical implications for organizations navigating service-oriented transitions in a rapidly changing global environment.
