Abstract: Franchising has become one of the most popular forms of enterprise development. The dynamic process of globalization requires the international presence of enterprisesand this form of development turns out to be a concept which allows them to gain a competitive advantage on both local and global markets. The concept of franchising has evolved over the course of time. The aim of this study is to present, based on the available literature and market data, the current franchisingdevelopment trends in Poland and Europe. The study also aims to contribute toscholarly efforts being undertaken to analyze the phenomenon of franchising andits transformation.
