Lei de Gibrat na Indústria Brasileira: Evidência Empírica
Marcelo Resende
Economia, 2004, vol. 5, issue 2, 221-268
Abstract:
The paper investigates the validity of Gibrats law in the context of the Brazilian manufacturing industry during the period 1995-97. The referred hypothesis of independence between firm growth and size has as important implications, in the leading formulations, the lognormality of the distribution of firm size and the linearity of the relationship between size and rank (in logs). The empirical evidence on these implications were investigated by means of normality and linearity tests and in a large number of the sectors there is no support for Gibrats Law
