Validating state-dependent queueing models for uninterrupted trafic flows using simulation

Bart Wuyts, Tom van Woensel () and Nico Vandaele

Working Papers from University of Antwerp, Faculty of Business and Economics

Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is twofold. First, the relationship between flow and speed is assessed by means of simulation. Second, the effectiveness of some queueing based traffic models with state dependency is tested by comparing their outcomes to the recorded simulation-based results. It appears that the M/G/1 queueing model with gaussian state dependency outperforms all other models.
