Energy Consumption is a Determinant of Economic Growth in BRICS Countries or Not?

Abstract: Energy consumption as a determinant of economic growth is a matter that has been frequently discussed in recent years in the theory of economics. In this study, the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries from 1990 to 2013 analyzed by panel data analysis. According to the results of empirical analysis, conservation hypothesis in Russia and feedback hypothesis in Brazil and neutrality hypothesis in other countries are valid.
