Abstract: This paper probes the interrelationship between pandemics and oil prices. It shows that the pandemics may reduce the oil demand, causing oil prices to decrease, which is inconsistent with the predictions of the intertemporal capital asset pricing model. The implication of this study is that the oil market should not be ignored when analyzing the effect of pandemics
