Abstract: This study explores the role of Gedo International University (GIU) in fostering human capital investment within the Beledhawa District of Somalia. It highlights the significance of higher education in driving socio-economic development in developing regions. The research examines GIU’s contributions to the healthcare and education sectors, evaluates the impact of its graduates on local economic growth, and identifies challenges faced by the institution. Through a combination of qualitative interviews and data analysis, the study underscores the importance of adequate investment in universities to enhance their potential as catalysts for regional advancement. The findings emphasize the need for strategic partnerships and policy recommendations to further strengthen GIU’s role in human capital development.
