Abstract: Supplementary currencies have recently been organised by private actors in order to facilitate economic exchange between members or corporate bodies. They are characterised by selfhelp and intend to foster competition at least in a particular field. We evaluate such organisations in German speaking countries with respect to target achievement and the quality of management. It can be shown that more advanced management systems contribute to the success of these alternative currencies.
