Abstract:
?The economic crisis has changed the order of priorities of economic policy in developed economies. Growth enhancing polices have become a top priority and industrial policy has taken center stage among them in countries where it was not explicitly considered in the past. Many industrialized countries are now seeking their own new models of industrial policy and the European Union as well. This is a ?discovery? process and the recent publication of a Commission Communication on Industrial Policy defines the objectives and instruments currently used by the Union to reinforce its industrial base and foster growth and job creation. This paper reports on recent steps taken in the making of this new industrial policy in the context of the European Union during the last three years.?
