Métropolisation, centre et centralité

Frédéric Gaschet and Claude Lacour

Revue d'économie régionale et urbaine, 2002, vol. février, issue 1, 49-72

Abstract: The metropolitanization process leads to an increasing search for metropolitan centrality and yet it is often tied to a crisis of centers. This contradiction leads to an increasing disjunction between center and centrality whose patterns are analyzed as well in terms of evolving urban forms as of changing scales of mobility. These processes however do not mean definitively the death of centers, as shown by some various attempts to reconquest urban centrality, within central cities and suburban areas. Classification JEL : R11, R12.
